This is a beautiful, authentic NORTH AFRICAN LAMNA OBLIQUA SHARK TOOTH !
This Tooth measures 3-1/4″ from tip to root along its longest side (industry standard).
This extinct animal was one of the largest mackerel sharks in existence, and lived millions of years before the “giant” shark Megalodon. Lamna Obliqua could reach sizes of nearly 30 feet long (that’s 10 feet longer than the largest modern shark!). Sharks of the genus Lamna are known for their oblong crown teeth that form a wide triangular shape, with two (or sometimes more!) large side cusps. These teeth are excavated from phosphate beds in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, which are known for their ancient marine fossils. This shark’s closest living relatives are the porbeagle and the salmon shark.
